Season’s greetings from The Geneva Learning Foundation (20 December 2024)
Read the complete message here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/seasons-greetings-from-geneva-learning-foundation-hyqxe As 2024 draws to a close, we reflect with gratitude on our remarkable global community of learners, leaders, and doers in 137 countries. When health workers share not just what they know, but how they’re applying that knowledge to solve real problems, something remarkable emerges – collective intelligence that’s both practical and profound. But what makes these connections truly transformative isn’t just their scale or reach – it’s how they fundamentally change what’s possible in global health. Consider a few of the highlights of what we did together in 2024: - In less than six months, we grew a cross-border community to more than 3,000 health workers committed to identifying and reaching zero-dose children, as part of Gavi’s Zero-Dose Learning Hub (ZDLH). - For International Women’s Day, 177 women shared their stories with their daughters and other young women aspiring to careers in health or humanitarian response. - In April, we launched the Certificate peer learning programme on Psychological First Aid (PFA) in support of children affected by the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, in collaboration with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and with support of EU4Health - For World Immunization Week, immunization staff celebrated 50 years of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) by telling their own visual stories of what they do every day to make vaccines work. - Over 46,000 health professionals and more than 4,000 local organizations connected at Teach to Reach 10 in June and Teach to Reach 11 in December to share experiences on their most difficult challenges, showing that peer learning can drive change at unprecedented scale. - In July, over 4,300 health workers from all over Nigeria launched the country’s first Immunization Agenda 2030 Collaborative, with support from Gavi, NPHCDA, and UNICEF, demonstrating how local action can drive sector-wide change. Thousands of stories and insights were shared. The important part is that so many of you share back how you are using experience to make a difference. Each connection forged, each experience shared, each insight applied represents a new way of thinking about how change happens in complex systems. That’s why we’d love to hear your TGLF story. How has being part of this community impacted your work and life? Your story could inspire others to join our growing movement for change. We will publish a selection of your TGLF stories submitted by 5 January 2025. Looking ahead to 2025, we’re excited to build on this momentum together. While we know this is a difficult time for many colleagues, particularly those serving communities affected by crisis and conflict, we hope you can find moments of peace and connection. We deeply appreciate your commitment to learning and leading change. Together, we are showing that new ways of learning and connecting can strengthen health and hope in communities worldwide. More than that, we’re demonstrating that when we rethink how learning happens, we can unlock unprecedented possibilities for positive change. Wishing you renewed energy and inspiration for the journey ahead. PS You can learn more from experiences shared on our YouTube, Telegram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook channels.
